CANARIES IN THE COAL MINE is the shared identity of two independent songwriters: Chase Gassaway & Jordan Whitmore. Their first project together, Scarf Weather, is a collection of Christmas songs with both originals and holiday favorites.

When Chase was asked to play a private Christmas party in 2010, he called upon the help of Jordan to arrange some holiday tunes to build the set. Arranging many of the songs with a shared vocal lead, they discovered their vocal and stylistic compatibility. With Jordan’s pure delivery and Chase’s weathered tone, the two are able to bring out complexities that their individual songwriting can’t realize. Thus, CANARIES IN THE COAL MINE is a place where anything is possible, and nothing is out of the ordinary.
